Lydiate, township and vil. with ry. sta., Halsall par., N. Lancashire, 9 m. S. of Southport, 1995 ac., pop. 1071; Lydiate Abbey, in the course of erection at the time of the Reformation, was left in an incomplete state, and is now an ivy-clad ruin.
