The development of the Great Britain Historical GIS, and of this web site which accesses it, has been supported by many different organisations.
The original 2004 web site and major extensions to the contents of the Great Britain Historical GIS were funded by the Big Lottery Fund. The re-construction and expansion of this web site in 2009 was funded by JISC under their Digitisation Programme.
Further enhancements were then funded through smaller grants and the proceeds of consultancy work, then with major funding from the Economic and Social Research Council in 2025.
