POULTON-CUM-SPITTLE, a township in Bebington parish, Cheshire; on the Chester and Birkenhead railway, 4½ miles S by E of Birkenhead. It has a station, of the name of Spittle, on the railway; and it contains Wirralworkhouse, which had 123 inmates at the census of 1861. Acres, 954. Real property, £2, 770. Pop., 360. Houses,
