In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Waringstown like this:
Waringstown, vil., Donaghcloney par., NW. co. Down, 3 miles SE. of Lurgan, pop. 482; P.O. Waringstown stands on the property of the Waring family, whose seat is Waringstown House, and who introduced the linen mfr. into the district about the year 1667.
