In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Soddington like this:

SODDINGTON, a hamlet in Mamble parish, Worcester; 6½ miles W SW of Bewdley. A moated mansion of the Blounts stood here, and was burnt by the parliamentarians. Roman remains, including pavement, aqueduct, and brick kilns, were discovered in 1807.
