WALTHAM-CROSS, a chapelry, with a village, in Cheshunt parish, Herts; on the Eastern Counties railway, 1¼ mile S of Cheshunt. It was constituted in 1855; it has a head post-office,‡ and a r. station with telegraph; and it takes its suffix -name from an Eleanor cross, erected by Edward I., restored in 1721 and 1757 by the Society of Antiquaries, and re-restored in 1833 by W. ...
