In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Redgorton like this:

Redgorton, par., Perthshire, on river Tay, G007 ac., pop. 1452; P.O.; the church is 1 mile SW. of Luncarty ry. sta.; the par. consists of a main body and a detached NW. portion, the barony of Mullion.
