COWLAM, a parish in Driffield district, E. R. Yorkshire; 2 miles E by N of Sledmere, and 6½ NNW of Driffield r. station. Post town, Sledmere, under York. Acres, 2, 036. Real property, £1, 730. Pop., 69. Houses, 5. The living is a rectory in the diocese of York. Value, £300. Patron, the Rev. T. F. F. Bowes. The church was built in 1852, and has an ancient font.
