  1. The information is taken from table 23 'Private Households by availability of certain Household arrangements' by county, local authority areas, conurbation centres and new towns in the 1961 Census for England and Wales.

Notes:

  1. The information covers all the local government districts in England and Wales and was entered in Portsmouth. It gives information on the access of households to a cold water and hot water taps, fixed bath, water closet and if that access was shared.
  2. The shared facilities for Brierfield UD did not contain any information on the original table for the total of shared households.
  3. This table was originally called hcond_1961. It was amended in January 2010 to be hcond_1961_ew to reflect more accurately the area covered by the content
