Cardross, an estate, with a fine old mansion, in Port of Menteith parish, Perthshire. The mansion stands near the left bank of the river Forth, 1¾¾ mile SE of the Lake of Menteith, and 2 miles N by E of ort of Menteith station, this being 13 W by N of Stirling; its owner, Hy. David Erskine, Esq. (b. 1838; suc. 1844), holds 6245 acres in the shire, valued at £4021 per annum.
