BEAL, a township in Kyloe chapelry, Northumberland; on the Northeastern railway, opposite Holy Island, 7 miles SE of Tweedmouth. It includes Lowlin; and has a station on the railway, and a post office‡ under Berwick. It was the residence of the famous Irish female saint, Begogh.
