Buttermere.-- township, vil., and lake, Brigham par., W. Cumberland -- township, 6154 ac. land and 867 water, pop. 127. The vil. is 14 miles SW. of Keswick by Borrowdale, and 9 miles by the Vale of Newlands. The lake is 1¼ mile long, ¾ mile broad, and 247 ft. above the level of the se.
