Grampians, The, the great mountain system of Scotland, stretching across the country SW. and NE., and forming the natural boundary between the Highlands and the Lowlands; it includes several chains and groups; the main portion, sometimes called the Central Grampians, extends along the border of Invernness and Aberdeen on the N., and Perth and Forfar on the S.
