Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Union Bridge

Union Bridge, across the Tweed, between England and Scotland, at Horncliffe vil., 4½ miles SW. of Berwick on Tweed; was built in 1820, and is 3G8 ft. long, 18 ft. wide, and 27 ft. above the water; is a suspension bridge for carriages, the first of its kind ever constructed.
