Quair Water, a troutful stream of Traquair parish, Peeblesshire, rising on the E side of Dun Rig at an altitude of 2100 feet, close to the Selkirkshire boundary, and running 6½ miles north-eastward, till, after a descent of 1650 feet, it falls into the Tweed at a point 5 furlongs S of Innerleithen. It is fed by Newhall, Curly, and Fingland Burns, each nearly equal to itself in length and volume; and it has been celebrated in several lyrics, of which that by Nicol begins, ` Where Quair rins sweet amang the flowers.
