Preferred Name:
LOCHGELLY
Unit Type:
Scottish Burgh/District
Status:
District of County
Date created:
after 1931
Date abolished:

Unit ID:
12837719
Authorities:
1971 Census of Scotland, Table 25, 'Enumerated households by tenure and household amenities', for 'County, local authority areas'.

Notes:

The 1951 Census parish table indicates there were 4 Districts of County in Fife in 1931 but does not identify how they relate to the 7 existing in 1951. It also notes there were boundary changes in 1946 and 1948 so it is likely this unit was created in 1946. The 1931 Census DoC listing indicates the parishes of Kinglassie, Auchterderran and Ballingry were originally in Kirkcaldy DoC and the part of Beath CP was originally in Dunfermline DoC.
