Real property, £5,253. Pop., 1,006. Houses, 187. W. Court is the seat of Sir J. H. Pelly, Bart. Field Place, Northlands, and West House also are chief residences; and the first was the birthplace of the poet Shelley. ...
The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Chichester. Value, £315.* Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury. The church is Norman, and was enlarged and repewed in 1848. There is a national school.
