In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Brockdish like this:

BROCKDISH, a parish in Depwade district, Norfolk; on the river Waveney, 3 miles SW by W of Harleston r. station, and 6 E of Diss. It has a post office under Scole. Acres, 1,069. Real property, £2,394. Pop., 544. Houses, 117. The property is much subdivided. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich. Value, £327.* Patron, Mr. France. The church is ancient, and has a tower. There are a Wesleyan chapel, and charities £17. Blomefield, the county historian, was rector.
