In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Connor like this:

Connor, par. and vil., mid. co. Antrim, 5 miles S. of Ballymena -- 17,140 ac., pop. 6661; vil., pop. 234. Here Edward Bruce defeated an English army in 1315. The diocese of Connor comprises nearly the whole of co. Antrim, and parts of cos. Down and Londonderry.
