Place:

Thorpe  West Riding

The location is that of the church of St. John the Divine, Thorpe. This is clearly marked as "St. John's Church (C of E)" on Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 maps of the area just south of Sowerby Bridge accessible on the old-maps.co.uk web site, from 1894 to 1962/3 (the exact above wording is for 1962-3), but not on the 1:10,564 map of 1854 or the 1:2,500 map of 1978-85. This fits with the ecclesiastical parish being created in 1881 and abolished in 1972. Thorpe House and Thorpe House were just to the south.
