Q: Why can't I see any statistics specifically for my place?

A: Towns, villages, hamlets and suburbs do not have definite boundaries, and exactly which houses are part of a particular "place" is a matter of personal opinion. Statistics, modern and historical, are usually collected for administrative units with well-defined boundaries. Our site provides links from places both to units containing the place and units named after the place, but it is up to you to decide which of these many units is most relevant.
