RAGLEY HALL, the seat of the Marquis of Hertford, in Arrow parish, Warwick; near the river Arrow, 1 mile S W of Alcester. It was built about 1750 by Lord Conway; was altered by Wyatt; occupies comparatively highground; has four fronts, three stories high, of great architectural beauty; includes a hall 60 feet long, 40 feet wide, and 45 feet high; contains a library of nearly 30,000 volumes, and a fine collection of paintings by eminent masters; and stands in a richly-wooded park, containing a large lake and about 200 head of deer.
