Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for SHREWSBURY AND BIRMlNGHAM RAILWAY

SHREWSBURY AND BIRMlNGHAM RAILWAY, a railway in Salop and Staffford; from Shrewsbury eastward into junction with the Shropshire Union at Wellington; and thence south-eastward, past Shiffnaland Albrighton, into junction wit1i the Northwestern at Wolverhampton. It was formed in 1846-9; is 29½ miles long; and was amalgamated with the Great Western.
