Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Dalry

Dalry, par. and vil., Kirkcudbrightshire, 8 miles NW. of New Galloway ry. sta.-- par., 34,535 ac., pop. 988; vil., pop. 603; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; an old place, called variously Dalry, Claughan of Dalry, and St John's Town of Dalry; was the starting-point of the Covenanters' rising, which ended at Eullion Green.
