Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Montgomeryshire Canal

Montgomeryshire Canal, from Newtown NE. along Severn valley to Llanymynech; was formed in 1795-1821, descends 225 ft. with 15 locks, is 24 miles long, and is connected by a branch with the Ellesmere Canal.
