West-Riding Yorkshire - dist., pop. 4729; township (Stanley with Wrenthorpe - partly in the borough of Wakefield), 4074 ac., pop. 13,431; vil., 2 miles NE. of Wakefield; P.O.; has brickfields and ropemaking; at Pindar's Field Robin Hood is said to have fought the Pindar of Wakefield.
