Slaithwaite, market town with ry. sta., Huddersfield and Almondbury pars., and township, wholly in Huddersfield par., S. div. West-Riding Yorkshire, on river Colne, 4 miles SW. of Huddersfield - township, 2436 ac., pop. 3009; town, pop. 3882; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Market-days, Monday and Wednesday. The inhabitants are engaged in the cotton and woollen mf rs. Excellent mineral baths, similar to the springs at Harrogate, are here, and the town is much frequented by visitors during the summer months.
