Lauchope or Lachop House, an old mansion in Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, 1¼ mile ENE of Holytown. A tower-house, with walls of remarkable thickness, it was the seat of a very ancient family, the parent-stem of the Muirheads; and gave refuge, on the eve of his flight from Scotland, to Hamilton of Bothwellhaugh, Murray's assassin at Linlithgow (1570).Ord.
